About Me
- Name: Arty
- Location: Etchingham, East Sussex, United Kingdom
I grew up in Kenya until I was 18. In 1973 I went to art school at the West Surrey College of Art and Design (WSCAD) in Farnham Surrey and graduated in 1977 having studied Fine Art Painting. In the past I have had work exhibited several times at the Whitechapel Open in East London, at the New Grafton Gallery, the Ashgate Gallery in Farnham, the Ashbarn in Petersfield and the Ogle Gallery in Cheltenham. I consider my work is fairly intimate and painted for a domestic setting. I am happy to take commissions, including portraits. Serious enquiries about my work might like to contact me at Eganahpro (at symbol)yahoo.co.uk

This one is just so good. I've never been a great lover of still lives, since art school really, when we were forced to do such things in a very dull way. Being a bit of a rebel I always tried to make mine more "interesting" by adding surreal landscapes in the background ( going through a Dali phase at the time!) and "goo" seeping from apples and oranges etc. This used to irritate old Nell Jackson , the still life teacher, somethink awful!
I find it hard to get the subject just right. I like the light to be right but need to avoid the pretty.
I went through a long Dali phase too when I was 18 and nineteen. I cringe a bit when I see my old drawings. Adolescence eh?
